Rosalinde, daughter of the old Duke, disguises herself as a man to visit her father, who has been banished to the forests of Arden, and to escape the violence of his brother, the power-hungry autocrat Frederick. Or does she want to seduce Orlando, who is also exiled and has little experience in relationship matters, into a love game? In the role of her alter ego “Ganymede,” she pretends to teach Orlando how to overcome his infatuation with herself, Rosalinde.

With WIE ES EUCH GEFÄLLT (1599), William Shakespeare wrote perhaps the most delightful relationship comedy of all time, with a still unusually complex and fascinating protagonist as the linchpin. The piece seems to have inspired Billy Wilder, Woody Allen and shows like “Sex Education.” His theme is the dream of great love, which seems unattainable due to doubts, immaturity, misunderstandings and social conventions, but is within reach at the right moment. A sensual classic characterized by colorful characters, aphrodisiac language and surprising erotic sparks. WIE ES EUCH GEFÄLLT plays with questions of authority and anarchy, subversion and role play, therapy and self-discovery - all of this in a fantasy world of unexpected turns and constant transformation, in which everyone is asked to constantly re-imagine themselves and those around them consider.
