It's about politics and power, about the gap between top and bottom, between ruler and ruled: ST. FALSTAFF is a story of violence, but also one of hope. While the state descends into chaos and quasi-King Henry searches for a halfway capable successor, soldier John Falstaff and Prince Harry become friends in Mrs. Flott's container bar. Or do they fall in love? Who knows. In any case, the poison of power wreaks its destructive havoc. On their relationship. And on society.

The Austrian author Ewald Palmetshofer leads Falstaff, one of Shakespeare's most famous characters, into the depths of a dystopian world. After HAMLET, Karin Henkel directs this powerfully eloquent, sparkling adaptation of HENRY IV and, together with the author, asks why times aren't getting better.
