In Berlin during the Roaring Twenties, the Viennese emcee Paul Morgan was a celebrated star on the cabaret stages. He was a renowned film actor who even made it to Hollywood, and an author of witty stories. The successful, laconic, and self-deprecating humorist came from a Jewish family in Vienna's 1st district. Born Georg Paul Morgenstern in the house next to the Kammerspiele (chamber theater) of the Theater in der Josefstadt, he celebrated his first successes on the Kammerspiele stage.

The Austrian author Teresa Präauer dedicates a grand musical revue to Paul Morgan. Against the backdrop of the glittering panorama of the 1920s and 30s, she recounts the biographical milestones of the Austrian artist. Präauer weaves his texts and songs together with previously overlooked biographical material. One hundred years later, we bring Paul Morgan, his life, and his art back to life on the stage of the Kammerspiele. Director Ruth Brauer-Kvam presents this revue, featuring Morgan's sketches and songs from the cabaret scene between Vienna and Berlin during the interwar period, in an entertaining, poetic, and musically rich world premiere.
