The Original Version Tours Germany and Austria in 2027: The Greatest Musical Fun of All Time
The sensational feel-good musical MAMMA MIA!, in its original English version with German subtitles, will be touring Bregenz, Vienna, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Berlin, Oberhausen, and Bremen in 2027. From the West End to a global phenomenon! MAMMA MIA! is Judy Craymer's brilliant interpretation of ABBA's timeless songs, presented as a lighthearted and witty story about a mother, a daughter, and three potential fathers on an idyllic Greek island.
The performances in Germany and Austria celebrate more than 25 years of MAMMA MIA! since its London premiere in April 1999. And to this day, MAMMA MIA! remains the third longest-running musical, with over 11 million audience members in London's West End. MAMMA MIA! It has been seen by more than 70 million people in 50 productions and in 16 different languages. In 2011, MAMMA MIA! became the first musical in the Western Hemisphere to be performed in Mandarin in the People's Republic of China.
MAMMA MIA! went on to become the eighth longest-running show in Broadway history, having enjoyed a record-breaking 14 years. Since its premiere in London's West End, the world's most spectacular and entertaining musical has been brought to life by two highly successful film adaptations. The 2008 film MAMMA MIA!, produced by Judy Craymer, became the highest-grossing musical of all time upon its release, and the second film, MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN (2018), is the highest-grossing live musical film sequel of all time.
The music and lyrics of MAMMA MIA! were written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. The screenplay was written by Catherine Johnson, the film was directed by Phyllida Lloyd, and the choreography was by Anthony Van Laast. The production was conceived by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, and music direction, bonus features, and arrangements by Martin Koch.
The MAMMA MIA! International Tour is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East, and Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal and NGM.
