Gerhard Aflenzer Broadway Big Band »Swing Gala -The Golden Era Of Big Band Swing«

The »Swing Gala« with Viennese vibraphonist Martin Breinschmid and trumpeter Gerhard Aflenzer with his Broadway Big Band has already become a tradition at the Wiener Konzerthaus. Enjoy titles from the repertoire of the bands of Lionel Hampton, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Harry James, etc. The audience is invited on a journey through the great big band era.

Martin Breinschmid is an internationally renowned and respected vibraphonist, drummer and percussionist. He has performed with musicians such as Buddy De Franco, Terry Gibbs, Peanuts Hucko, Scott Hamilton and Ken Peplovsky and has been a member of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien orchestra since 1988.

Michael Fischer has been invited to this year's Swing Gala for the first time to provide rhythm and a sense of rhythm. With the stage name »Astaire la Vista«, he is bringing a legend to the stage, resurrecting the greatest dancer of all time with his incomparably unique tap acrobatics.

Gerhard Aflenzer was able to win Karin Bachner –, one of Austria's best jazz singers –, as a special guest for the Swing Gala. With her expressive voice, the winner of the »Jazz Fest Wien Vocal Award« is one of the most impressive singers in the country. She has played with formations such as the Richard Österreicher Big Band, the Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra, the Robert Bachner Big Band and the Würzburg Jazz Orchestra. Karin Bachner not only has the licence to swing, which she demonstrates with her Pocket Big Band and the great Ella Fitzgerald Tribute »Ella Forever«, but also shines with her soulful side as a gospel soloist.
