Young Elisabeth wants to sell her body for scientific purposes while she's still alive. She hopes this will offer a way out of her seemingly hopeless situation. Naturally, her plan fails, and her problems become overwhelming. In the end, Elisabeth sees no other option than to drown herself. Her reason is: "Because I have nothing left to eat."

In her production of the 1932 play, director Lucia Bihler explores the hopelessness and helplessness of people in precarious economic situations and embarks on a search for new perspectives for Elisabeth.
