A tenement house of the abyss: Mrs. Wurm and her adult son Herrmann live in the basement, tormenting each other with insults and murderous fantasies. One floor above: Mr. and Mrs. Kovacic and their vulgar daughters Desiree and Bianca. They are all invited by the building's owner, Grollfeuer, to a birthday party where years of pent-up aggression finally and violently erupt.

In typical Swabian German, the author depicts a grotesque world devoid of morals, compassion, solidarity, or tact – and it's brutally funny.
