ÖDIPUS TYRANN

Arthur-Schnitzler-Platz 1

1070 Wien

Drought, plague, and infertility threaten to destroy Oedipus’s kingdom, and the city cries out: “Who is to blame?” Sophocles’ *Oedipus Rex* tells the story of a man who aspires to be king—a man who, while seeking those responsible for this monumental crisis, exempts himself from scrutiny and thus becomes a tyrant. He sought to bring clarity to the city of Thebes, yet leaves behind—for the city and for his daughters Ismene and Antigone—nothing but destruction, suffering, pain, and profound grief. And rage.
