KOMÖDIE MIT BANKÜBERFALL

Arthur-Schnitzler-Platz 1

1070 Wien

"Mission: Impossible?" A provincial bank is turned literally upside down by a heist that is as daring as it is clumsy. A petty criminal has staged a spectacular escape from a high-security wing—which was evidently inadequately secured—only to break into the bank—equally poorly secured—in an even more spectacular fashion. Inside lies a diamond of incalculable value. However, the safecracker failed to reckon with the staff: from the perpetual intern to the caretaker, and from the teller to the branch manager’s daughter, everyone gets in his way, causing his robbery to spiral out of control. Amidst pickpockets, con artists, and white-collar criminals, it eventually becomes unclear who the actual criminal is—and whose pocket the jewel ends up in is anyone’s guess!

This chaotic, Monty Python-esque romp by the Mischief Theatre Company has its roots in improv theater. The British troupe’s shows—now celebrated worldwide—blend slapstick, acrobatics, and silly wordplay. Comedy specialist Christian Brey brings the play to the stage, packing it with jabs at Hollywood genres ranging from prison-break dramas to high-tech action movies.
