Otello is an opera in four acts by Verdi after the drama by William Shakespeare. The libretto is by Arrigo Boito.

Otello, the commander of the Venetian fleet, returned victoriously from the Turkish War. Jago, feeling humiliated by Otello’s promotion, plans an intrigue. In order to get his revenge, he convinces Otello of the unfaithfulness of his wife Desdemona. Driven by jealousy, Otello murders his beloved wife, and when he learns of Jagos lie, he also kills himself.
