    After a period of economic hardship, the once-successful Hotel "Graues Rössl" lies dormant, much like the innkeeper's marriage to her former headwaiter, Leopold. When a shady lawyer wants to buy the dilapidated hotel on behalf of potential investors, the innkeeper's hopes are rekindled. Driven by jealousy and fear for the hotel's future, her husband tries to prevent the sale, even resorting to supernatural deceptions.
