Under the banner ‘Classical Music in St Stephen’s Cathedral – Mozart, Dvořák, Mendelssohn & more’, the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra (PACO) will present a concert experience at St Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna on Wednesday 1 July 2026, bringing together musical diversity and youthful excellence in a unique way.

From the subtle, elegant sound of Mozart’s Divertimento in D major, through the warm, lyrical string textures of Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings, to Bartók’s rhythmically vibrant Divertimento and Mendelssohn’s powerful String Octet, a varied programme unfolds that conveys both contemplative tranquillity and sparkling vitality.

The Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra (PACO) is one of the leading youth string orchestras in the USA, bringing together talented school-age musicians in several specialist ensembles. At the heart of its work lies an in-depth exploration of chamber music, which not only fosters musical excellence but also emphasises team spirit, creativity and collaborative music-making.

Under the baton of Scott Krijnen, the orchestra’s Music Director since the 2023/24 season, PACO continues its long-standing tradition of the highest artistic quality and captivates audiences with a vibrant, nuanced sound. His artistic credo – musical excellence in harmony with empathy and collaboration – has a lasting influence on the ensemble’s work.
