The major touring production with a top-class cast. A true musical highlight!
Since 2010, "The Phantom of the Opera" by the writing team of Deborah Sasson and Jochen Sautter has captivated audiences on stages across Europe. For the outstanding quality of the actors, the music, and the spectacular stage design, the production was awarded the Golden Sun 2023 as Best Musical. In 2026, the major touring production with Deborah Sasson and Uwe Kröger returns to Austria. Audiences and the press everywhere are celebrating the singer's collaboration with Germany's number one musical star, who will once again take on the role of the Phantom.
The impressive stage design is brought to life by both the striking, three-dimensional video projections by acclaimed multimedia artist Daniel Stryjecki and the magnificent stage elements constructed by Michael Scott of the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
This new production, originally created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel "Le Fantôme de l'Opéra," is one of the most successful touring musicals in Europe. The production distinguishes itself from all previous musical interpretations of the literary subject matter by staying closer to the original novel and incorporating well-known operatic quotations into parts of the music composed by Sasson.
The role of Christine is performed by the world-renowned Boston soprano and Echo Klassik Award winner Deborah Sasson. Her multifaceted and powerful voice is perfect for this blend of opera and musical. The Phantom is played by Uwe Kröger, who has captured the hearts of audiences since his breakthrough role as Death in the world premiere of Elisabeth. He has played leading roles in the world premieres of Rebecca, Mozart, The Visit of the Old Lady, Heidi, and the German-language premieres of Sunset Boulevard, Miss Saigon, Doctor Dolittle, The Addams Family, and Napoleon in London's West End, among others. Now, in this production, he takes on the role of the Phantom, feared by the world and torn within himself.
A large ensemble of select singers, dancers, and actors from German-speaking countries will also be involved.
