The Simon and Garfunkel Story Konzerthaus Big Hall - Wien Wed 09.Jun 2027 19:30 replace me !The Simon & Garfunkel Story has already thrilled over 500,000 people worldwide. The sold-out Austrian premiere in October 2018 at Vienna's Museumsquartier was also celebrated by audiences and the press alike. After the subsequently planned tour unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, the band finally embarked on their first major tour of Germany in spring 2024 and celebrated great success. After sold-out concerts in Linz, Amstetten and Bad Ischl in April 2025, the successful production from London's West End is now coming back to the Alpine republic in June 2027.
As a loving tribute, the celebrated tribute show brings the characteristic sound of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel faithfully to the stage and takes the audience on a captivating journey through the careers of these likeable and profound folk-rock stars with global hits such as »The Sound Of Silence«, »Bridge Over Troubled Water« and »Mrs Robinson«!
An evening with the folk-rock legends
At the centre of this moving and musically high-class evening are songs that still inspire today with their unmistakable and poetic character. The two main performers bear an astonishing resemblance to their idols and, together with the five-piece band, interpret the works with skill and great respect. The show takes us from the first musical steps of the two New York boys to their incredible success as one of the best-selling music groups of the 1960s and their break-up in 1970, culminating in the legendary reunion at the concert in Central Park in 1981 in front of more than half a million fans. Large projections with carefully selected photo and video material convey the mood of the time and bring special moments of their success story back to the stage.
One of the most successful duos of all time
The songs of Simon & Garfunkel were the soundtrack to a moving time: »The Sound of Silence« was regarded by the New York Times Magazine as the »anthem of the young generation«. No wonder, as this, like many of her other songs, combined thoughtfulness, harmony and »perfectly packaged melancholy« (Der Spiegel). Their influence on pop history is undisputed; Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were honoured ten times at the Grammy Awards alone. In 1990, Simon & Garfunkel were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, followed by the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003. Today, the duo has sold over 100 million albums.
»The very first lines of 'The Sound Of Silenceʻ or 'The Boxerʻ send shivers down your spine, while the rousing version of, Ceciliaʻ gets the whole audience clapping along« attests the London EXPRESS. While the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger sums it up: »An evening in perfect harmony!«(Source: konzerthaus.at)
