Discovering Morricone Konzerthaus Big Hall - Wien Mon 15.Mar 2027 19:30 replace me !The unique and extraordinary homage to the music of the great Italian composer Ennio Morricone will be enriched with new works, including some lesser-known but beautiful pieces as well as great classics from the maestro's boundless repertoire. The result is the new programme »Discovering Morricone«.
It is not just a concert, but a journey of words, impressions and solo performances that take the audience through the decades that have shaped Italian and international cinema and music. The journey begins with melodies that have remained in the collective memory of generations, from films such as The Mission, »The Legend of the Pianist on the Ocean«, »Play Me the Song of Death«, »Cinema Paradico«, The Hateful Eight, »Once Upon a Time in America«, »For a Few Dollars More« and Malèna. »The programme, which has shaped the activities of the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra in recent seasons, will be continued with further works such as »The Untouchables«, »La Califfa«, »Making Love« and »Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion« and is also dedicated to great titles interpreted in new symphonic versions for artists such as Dulce Pontes, Amii Stewart, Joan Baez and Mina.
500 soundtracks, 70 million records sold worldwide, six nominations and two Oscar wins, three Grammys, four Golden Globes and a Golden Lion make Ennio Morricone one of the greatest composers of film music. Hence the idea of the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra to honour the maestro.
The ensemble has already worked with numerous national and international artists, including Mario Biondi, Max Gazzè, Franco Battiato, Giovanni Allevi, Renato Zero, Francesco Renga, Pooh, Baustelle, PFM, Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Nile Rodgers, Sam Smith and Luis Bacalov.
With more than six hundred concerts in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Austria, the United Kingdom and Belgium, the orchestra presents great versatility and moves confidently in all genres – from well-known opera arias to film music such as Frozen and Harry Potter.
This tribute will feature soloists from major Italian theatres and symphonic institutions, including cellist Ferdinando Vietti and trumpeter Stefano Benedetti. Special guests include soprano Anna Delfino and violinist Attila Simon from Cirque du Soleil.(Source: konzerthaus.at)
