A trained cellist who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, and Oscar? Born in Reykjavík in 1982, Hildur Guðnadóttir began classical cello and composition studies in her hometown and at the Berlin University of the Arts. However, she became interested early on in experimental sounds outside the classical realm. She captures a broad sonic spectrum from her instrument, ranging from intimate simplicity to powerful soundscapes. With her stripped-down and atmospheric sound, she established herself at the forefront of experimental pop and contemporary music. In addition to her acclaimed solo albums "Mount A," "Without Sinking," "Leyfðu Ljósinu," and "Saman," which range between ambient and drone metal, she has composed for theater, dance, and film. Her evocative soundtracks for "Chernobyl" and "Joker" have earned her the film industry's highest awards. Now the singer, cellist, and composer will perform with her ensemble at the Vienna Konzerthaus for the first time!
