    Placido Domingo, Tenor

Few contemporary artists are as versatile! Plácido Domingo is a singer and conductor, tenor and baritone, with more than 150 operatic roles, celebrated by audiences on stages around the world.

Described as a Renaissance man by international critics for his universal appeal, he has received honorary degrees and prestigious awards, particularly for his humanitarian work. As a promoter of young vocal talent, Domingo founded the Operalia singing competition. He is also a global ambassador for Spanish culture and zarzuela, following his parents' example.

Placido Domingo is extraordinarily versatile and, in addition to his career as a singer and conductor, has served as artistic director and general director of the opera houses in Washington and Los Angeles. His concerts with his tenor colleagues José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti as "The Three Tenors" are legendary. In addition to his vast operatic repertoire, Domingo is also a pioneer of crossover and the winner of twelve Grammy Awards. He has played the leading roles in the film operas of Zeffirelli (Cavalleria Rusticana, La Traviata, and Otello), Rosi (Carmen), and De Bosio (Tosca).

In addition to singing, he is a respected conductor with more than 600 worldwide appearances. Since 2009, he has also sung the major baritone roles.

His extraordinary artistic career has now spanned more than half a century without interruption. For this truly exceptional achievement, Plácido Domingo has received awards at the opera houses of New York, Vienna, Verona, Milan, and Buenos Aires, among others.
