Lotfullah & die Staatsbürgerschaft

Schwarzenbergplatz 1

1010 Wien

Lotfullah fled to Austria alone in 2015 at the age of 15. In 2017, he made his debut in the foyer of the Burgtheater and subsequently performed with the theater group SPIGL at theater festivals, in parking lots, in circus tents, and at traditional wine taverns. Now, in 2025, he tells his own story.

This is not a refugee story; it is a Kafkaesque tale of bureaucracy. A story of incomprehensible officialese, of violence, of the value of citizenship, and of Lotfullah's remarkable perseverance, charm, and humor. A story about the power of institutions and the strength of human relationships.
