Lysistrata Kasino am Schwarzenbergplatz - Wien Thu 26.Feb 2026 20:00 replace me !The search for peaceful forms of protest and unconventional conflict resolution is particularly urgent in times of war. Aristophanes offers a striking example in his comedy LYSISTRATA, first performed in 411 BC: The women of the two opposing camps, Athens and Sparta, join forces and refuse sex with their warring men in order to force a peace agreement. Led by Lysistrata, they occupy the Acropolis, seize the state funds, and ultimately achieve their goal—despite fierce attacks.
For director Ebru Tartıcı Borchers, LYSISTRATA is an early feminist text, a radical counter-voice to the rise of male chauvinism.
