We’re on your side!” – OH NO, NOT AGAIN! humorously, fast-pacedly, and self-ironically examines the mechanisms of ‘white fragility’: those defensive reactions that arise when white people are confronted with their internalized racism. Racism occurs in everyday life, even where it is least expected – in progressive spaces and well-intentioned gestures of solidarity. In this piece, everyday experts, members of the so-called ‘community,’ share the stage with members of the BURG ensemble and take control of the narrative. OH NO, NOT AGAIN! shows that racism is not a story of “the other,” but one that affects us all – a story of the overwhelming sense of being overwhelmed that arises when attributions are questioned and the boundary between “us” and “them” blurs.
Director Aslı Kışlal founded the performance and theatre laboratory diverCITYLAB in 2013. Her production of MINIHORROR at the Theater am Werk was nominated for the Nestroy Award in the category "Best Off-Production" in 2024.
