That's the model we're taught, in politics, on social media, and in the kindergarten WhatsApp group. We live in a society full of winners, where everyone wants to be first, in fact, has to be first. Anyone who comes in second has already lost, been left behind, fallen by the wayside. These forces also influence Thomas Mraz, and that's why his motto now is: MRAZ FIRST! Yet he's rarely—very rarely—actually, never—been first at anything.
It's about time that Mraz, in his first solo show, confronts his big questions: Is he aiming for chairman of the allotment association? Is he opening his sausage stand, just like he remembers it from back in the day? Is he old enough to apply for early retirement? Is he a well-traveled cosmopolitan or a working-class guy from Favoriten? Or perhaps both? And most importantly: Is he really just as much of an egoist as everyone else?
