Italy at the GLOBE: The hit program by the Viennese cult band and the legendary Rapid Vienna player is a musical labor of love for the three tenors Thomas Schreiber, Toni Matosic, and Hans Krankl. Their love for Italian music and American music with Italian roots allows for an unprecedented mix of oldies and super hits from recent decades. On the one hand, Adriano Celentano's "Questo ragazzo della via gluck," Gianni Morandi's "Sciende la piogga," Zucchero's "Guantanamera," Tony Dallara's "Come prima," and on the other hand, Dean Martin's "That's Amore" and "On an Evening in Roma," Elvis Presley's "It's Now or Never" and "Surrender," Faust Leali's "Hurt," and many more. As always, in addition to their unique interpretations of the songs, there's plenty of information and witty remarks, delivered spontaneously by the protagonists in their signature Monti Beton style. Cheers!
Monti Beton & Johann K.:
There are few bands in Europe as dedicated to cultivating sophisticated rock and pop music—without being a typical cover band—as the Vienna-based group MONTI BETON. Specifically, for over 40 years, the band has primarily focused on artists and groups who no longer perform live, but whose music is now considered contemporary. MONTI BETON consistently manages to connect with the roots of this music and its artists, thus conveying the core message of the original without imitating it, but rather interpreting it in their own humorous and entertaining style. MONTI BETON presents its own full-length evening programs, dedicated to the music of artists such as the Beatles, Elvis, the Kinks, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, David Bowie, and the Doors.
Over the past 20 years, the iconic Viennese band has collaborated with star striker Hans Krankl to develop additional programs: "The Night of Austropop," "Christmas Classics Extravaganza," "Il Spettacolo Italo-Americano," and "The Schlager Night of Schlager." In October 2015, Johann K. and Monti Beton celebrated their 10th anniversary on stage with a unique event at the Vienna Stadthalle. Fittingly, their 20th anniversary was celebrated on July 5, 2025, at the sold-out Vienna State Opera.
