A Night in Venice is an operetta in three acts by Johann Strauss with the libretto by Camillo Walzel and Richard Genée. The story of the opera is set in Venice during the carnival, in the middle of the 18th century. Duke Guido of Urbino, is a man well-known for his arts of seduction throughout Venice, which is why all senators hide their young women during carnival. The Count is particularly interested in Delaqua's wife Barbara, but he soon learns that Barbara is hiding in a monastery outside the city.
