Antonín Dvořáks opera Rusalka, after the libretto by Jaroslav Kvail, is considered the most successful opera by Dvořák. Due to the similarity of the libretto with Western fairy tales such as Undine, by Frederick de la Motte Fouqué, the opera is often called the "Czech Undine". Rusalka, a mermaid, falls in love with a young prince, and therefore wants the witch Jezibaba to turn her into a human. At its premiere the opera was already considered a great success and even today Antonín Dvořáks Rusalka is probably the most famous Czech opera.
