La Cenerentola, or Goodness Triumphant, is an opera in two acts after the music of Gioachino Rossini and the libretto by Jacopo Ferretti. La Cenerentola is based on the fairytale Cendrillon, the little glass slipper, by Charles Perrault. The protagonists of the fairy tale resemble in a large part the German Cinderella from the fairy tale collection by the Brothers Grimm. Unlike the fairy tale, Rossini's La Cenerentola contains no elements of magic and fantasy.
