The Italian opera buffa, by Gioachino Rossini, plays in Algiers at around 1810.In search of her lover Lindoro, the Italian Isabella goes to Algeria. There, Mustafàs, Bey of Algiers bored by his wife Elvira, falls in love with Isabella. The Italian woman however, recognizes her lover under the slaves of Mustáfa and tries to rescue him.
