The opera by Giacomo Puccini, which premiered on the 14^th January in 1900, takes place in Rome in 1800. The Painter Mario Cavaradossie discovers in the church at which he was working, his friend Angelotti who fled the prison. Angelotti begs his friend to hide him. But when the painter's lover Tosca shows up, the escape plan seems to fail.
