Drei Wien debuts presents the last premiere of the Vienna State Ballet under Martin Schläpfer’s direction – premieres by choreographers of the younger generation.

Alessandra Corti deals with the topic of human identity and is inspired by tension processes that can be read as prismatic experiences or collective experiences. The title of her piece refers to the intangible, airy: Aerea - a palindrome without beginning or end. Rewriting Beethoven's Seventh Symphony - Michael Gordon's humorous and disturbing look at a classic - is its musical basis.

Louis Stiens calls his creation High, thinking of the overwhelming view of the early morning summer sky after a night of partying. Like a seismograph, the artist senses our present and with it the past and creates his dance pieces that get under your skin from the clashes of time. For his Vienna debut he is inspired by the music of the Swedish composer Lisa Streich. – An exhilarating flight from heaven into the ballroom.

“Max Bruch's 1st Violin Concerto is a powerful expression of our love of life. Based solely on the musical twists and turns of this composition, my ballet is a kind of inventory of ourselves: Where do we come from, where are we, where are we going?” says Martin Chaix, describing the starting point of his choreography M to M.
